How to Add a Class

1. Log in to PAWS and click “Registration”. 

2. Select “Register for Classes”.

3. Select the semester you want to register for.

4. Enter your Alternate PIN for the selected term and click “Continue”.

5. Search for classes on the “Find Classes” tab using course subjects and numbers. You can also add classes to your Summary using a CRN number on the “Enter CRNs” tab.

6. In the search results, select “Add” next to a class to add it to your Summary.

8. Courses added to your Summary will appear by date and time in the “Schedule” section of the page.

9. Choose the “Web Registered” action from the drop-down menu in the Summary and select “Submit” to register.

10. Successfully registered courses will change from “Pending” to “Registered” in the status column of the summary.

General Guidelines

• Schedule drops can only be made before a term’s designated Add/Drop period ends. After this date, students must withdraw from a course.
• If you are only registered for one course and wish to drop it, you cannot do so in PAWS. If you intend to add other classes, add them first, and then drop the unwanted course.
• If you want to drop all courses and do not wish to attend SSU for the selected term, you must submit a Withdraw from Semester form.

Instructions

1. Log in to PAWS and click “Registration”.

2. Select “Register for Classes”.

3. Choose the “Web drop” action from the drop-down menu for each class you want dropped in the schedule summary.

4. Click “Submit”.

Note: If you need to drop classes from your schedule but have a hold on your account preventing registration changes, please email [email protected] from your SSU email account for assistance. Please include your name and student ID number.

General Guidelines

• The waitlist feature is a first come, first served function. Being on the waitlist does not guarantee a chance to register for a course.
• The waitlist feature does not automatically register the student in the class. The student must take action to register in PAWS.
• Not all courses use the waitlist option.
• If a student does not meet the prerequisite requirements of a class, they cannot be added to the waitlist.

The Department offering the course determines the waitlist cap for each section. Once the maximum number of students have claimed a spot on the waitlist, the waitlist will be closed.

Courses with a waitlist may appear to have an open seat. While there is technically an open seat, that seat is reserved for the next person on the waitlist. Do not drop a course you are already registered for until you have confirmed that there is a seat available in the course you are seeking.

Instructions

1. Log in to PAWS and click “Registration”. 

2. Select “Register for Classes”.

3. Attempt to add the desired course to your Summary.

4. Choose the “Wait List” action from the drop-down menu. 

5. Click “Submit”. 

If a seat becomes available, you will receive an email in your SSU email account notifying you of the opportunity to register. You will have 24 hours from the time you received the email to register for the course. If you do not register within 24 hours, the opportunity immediately goes to the next person on the waitlist.

If you no longer wish to be on the waitlist or get a seat in a different section, you should drop the waitlist section from your schedule.
