SSU Announces Co-Chairs for 26th Annual Scholarship Gala

Savannah, GA – Savannah State University (SSU) is proud to announce that Chief Terry Enoch and Mrs. Michelle Adams are serving as co-chairs for the 2025 Scholarship Gala, scheduled for Saturday, April 5, at 7 p.m. at the Savannah Convention Center.
As co-chairs, Enoch and Adams will rally fellow alumni and supporters to raise vital scholarship funds for SSU students, 90% of whom rely on financial aid to pursue their college education.
“The annual Gala is a cornerstone of our commitment to empowering students who will become the future leaders and pillars of our community, much like our distinguished co-chairs,” said SSU Interim President Cynthia Robinson Alexander, J.D. “Investing in their education is an investment in the continued growth and success of Savannah and beyond.”
Chief Enoch, a proud SSU alumnus with a Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice, has dedicated over four decades to public safety in the Savannah-Chatham area. He currently serves as Chief of Police for the Savannah-Chatham County Board of Education Police Department. SSU was pivotal in Enoch’s development, not only in shaping his leadership abilities but also as the place where he met his wife of 33 years, Veronica. Their third child, Noah, continues the family legacy as an SSU student and member of the “Powerhouse of the South” marching band. Enoch has received numerous honors for his contributions to various community organizations.
Michelle Adams, a 2011 SSU graduate with a Bachelor of Science in biology completed the Funeral Service Education Program at Ogeechee Technical College (OTC) in 2016. She now works alongside her husband, Amari, as a licensed embalmer and funeral director at Adams Funeral Services in Savannah. In addition to her professional achievements, Adams serves on the Funeral Service Education Board at OTC, is a board member of the SSU Foundation, Inc., and is an active member of the Savannah Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. She is also deeply involved in local community organizations that serve the needs of Savannah and its surrounding areas.
This year’s Gala theme is “Evening of Elegance: An Orange Carpet Affair.” The event will feature the prestigious Awards of Excellence presentation, honoring a select group of alumni and friends of the university who have made outstanding contributions to SSU and the greater Savannah community. Awards will recognize excellence in leadership, philanthropy, scholarship, service, arts and entertainment.
The SSU Scholarship Gala has become one of the city’s most highly anticipated events since its inaugural celebration in 1999, which raised funds for the restoration of Hill Hall, the oldest remaining structure on campus. Since then, the Gala has grown into one of the key events for the university, students and the community.
