SSU Announces Call for Nominations for Second 40 Under 40 Cohort

Savannah State University (SSU) is proud to announce the call for nominations for the second 40 Under 40 cohort to recognize young alumni of the university who have made significant contributions to their profession and community.

Savannah State University (SSU) is proud to announce the call for nominations for the second 40 Under 40 cohort to recognize young alumni of the university who have made significant contributions to their profession and community.

“Ideal candidates for the award should have achieved notable professional success, demonstrated exceptional leadership in their fields, made a positive impact in their communities, and embody the values and mission of Savannah State University,” said Mr. Marius Davis, SSU director of alumni relations.

Qualifying candidates are required to be nominated by a graduate of SSU through a nominator form. Additionally, all candidates are required to complete a nominee form. The forms are available HERE. The nomination deadline is March 8. Only graduates of SSU may submit a nomination.

“We are excited to recognize our second cohort of the 40 Under 40 class,” said Davis. “We know that there is a powerful body of alumni who are excelling professionally and making a positive impact in their communities, and we can’t wait to recognize them. I personally invite all alumni to engage in the nomination process to help us recognize the talents and contributions of our graduates.”

All nominations will be reviewed by a selection committee. The recipients of the second cohort of the 40 Under 40 Awards program will be recognized during a special event on campus later this calendar year.

Successful nominees must satisfy the following qualifications:
• Must possess a bachelor’s or master’s degree from Savannah State University
• Must be 40 years or younger in age by December 31, 2026
• Have a record of professional or philanthropic endeavors in one or more areas such as business, media, research, arts, leadership, community, government, education, engineering, philanthropy, or other areas
• The nomination is submitted by a Savannah State University graduate
• For an applicant to be considered for review, there must be a completed nominator and nominee form by March 8.

Additionally, requirements for individuals selected as award recipients include:
• Must provide a professional headshot and biography
• Must participate in video reflections and advertisements
• Must be present at the ceremony to receive the Award of Recognition
• Must demonstrate a personal commitment to Savannah State University through financial support, volunteerism, fostering relationships, or other
• Financial commitment to the university (all proceeds will support student scholarships)
