dell latitude 5480 Savannah State University offers a convenient Computer Rentals Program to support students, faculty, and staff in staying equipped with the technology they need for success. Whether you’re working on assignments, conducting research, or attending virtual meetings, our program provides access to reliable and high-quality devices to meet your needs.

Available devices include:

Dell Latitude 5480: A robust laptop designed for performance and portability, ideal for multitasking and productivity on the go.
OptiPlex All-in-One 7450: A sleek, desktop solution that combines power and functionality in a space-saving design, perfect for collaborative or home setups.
Apple iPad: A versatile and user-friendly tablet, great for note-taking, creative projects, or browsing on the move.

All Laptops must be registered on-line. Checkout and return times are available between the hours 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Getting Started

Read and understand the Electronic Computing Device Loan Agreement and Use Policy. You will be required to sign loaner agreement form at check-out. Provide a current and valid SSU Student ID card.

Laptops will not be distributed to anyone not providing their SSU Student ID.

Borrowers Responsibility

Full replacement cost of all laptop loaner devices and peripherals checked out if lost, damaged, or stolen during the checkout period or full cost of repairs, if repairs are necessary due to damage, including damage caused by spillage from food or beverage.

Any costs or fees that are accrued due to usage or negligence under this agreement must be paid immediately. A hold will be placed on the borrowers SSU student account until the balance is paid. The borrower cannot register, receive grades, or a transcript until the balance is paid and the hold is cleared.

Systems not returned within 24 hours of the agreed upon return date will be considered stolen and notification to SSU Campus Police. A hold and a fee will be assessed to your Student Account. Individual cases may be referred to Student Affairs for disciplinary action.

Checkout Process

Reserve Laptop online
Come to the Service Desk for pickup in Powell Hall
Maximum 45 days of checkout
Returned before or between 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. on due date
Conditions of loaned equipment
Current SSU student
Must have a current SSU ID Card
Read & sign loan contract
Return on due date
Must be in good standing with the University.
Return laptop in good condition/same condition when loaned.

Wait List
Waitlists are issued when all laptops are checked out.
Laptops will be held for one day after reservation pickup, or will be issued to the next person.
If there is no waitlist the laptops will go out to the next person who requests one.

Guidelines

Laptops computers will be available for checkout for a maximum period of 45 days to SSU students in good standing with the university.
Laptops are made available to the student on a first come first served basis. Checkout and Return times are only available between the hours 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Laptops returned late will be assessed the following late fees, plus an additional $5 a day for every day it is late: Dell Latitude, Dell Vostro, MACs
Never leave the laptop unattended while it is checked out to you.
DO NOT loan to anyone else.
It is highly recommended that all personal files are saved in OneDrive/Google Drive/Dropbox. Any files created and saved on the laptop are automatically erased when turned off.
SSU assumes no responsibility for files stored on the hard drive or on the laptop’s peripheral components.
Personal software may not be loaded onto the laptop computer at any time.
Violation of the above guidelines will constitute grounds for refusal of future service and/or disciplinary action.
SSU reserves the right to freeze the asset.

Electronic Computing Device Agreement and Use Policy

Requirements:

Must be a currently registered Savannah State University student.
Must be in good standing with the University.
Must have a current SSU ID Card.

Conditions of Use:

Only one electronic computing device (ECD) per person may be checked out at a time. ECD are available on a first-come first-serve basis as logged in the reservation system. Students may sign up on waiting list when all unavailable.
Checkout and Return times are only available between the hours 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday
Must be responsible for the safe and timely return of the borrowed ECD to the Helpdesk.
The borrower who signed the Loan Agreement must be the one to return the borrowed ECD.
ECD borrowing privileges will be suspended for the remainder of the academic year if the borrowed ECD is not returned on time.
ECDs returned late will be assessed the following late fees, plus an additional $5 a day for every day it is late:
- Latitude, Vostro – $ 800
- Chromebook – $250
- MAC – $1000
Personal software may not be loaded onto the laptop computer.
It is highly recommended that all personal files be saved on a USB Flash Drive. Any files created and saved on the ECD are automatically erased when the PC is turned off.
SSU is not responsible for any files left on any ECD or for loss of or damage to a user’s files during the loan period.
Borrower must abide by all university, state and federal policies and laws regarding the appropriate use of university network and computing resources.
When a ECD is issued, annotate any damage on the form and ensure that the ECD is functioning properly.
If equipment is stolen, notify the SSU Campus Police and the Helpdesk ECD Loaner Program staff so that a police/security report may be completed.
DO NOT loan to anyone else.
SSU reserves the right to freeze the asset.

The Student accepts full responsibility for the ECD during the loaner period. Student will reimburse Savannah State University for the cost of repairing or replacing this ECD if it is damaged, lost, stolen or not returned while on loan. The Student understands that the replacement cost for this ECD will be the actual cost associated with replacing it at current prices for the same model (or similar if same model is not available)

Student signature acknowledges the agreement was read and student understands conditions of Use listed above.
