As part of Investiture Week, Savannah State University invites students, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends to take part in a campus-wide Community Service Day.

Together, we will give back, strengthen our connections, and reflect the values of service and responsibility that define the SSU legacy.

  • Habitat for Humanity

  • To complete the required pre-registration sessions, click the button below, then enter the access code: W8NAEBTG. Under the Recommended Courses tab, complete the following courses: Restore Safety and Loss Control for Volunteers, and Volunteering on a Habitat for Humanity Job Site. After completing the required trainings you must submit your training completion details. To do so, enter your name, Select "Georgia" from the dropdown menu, HFH Name: Coastal Empire Habitat for Humanity, Association: Volunteer, then use your SSU affiliated email address (if applicable). Once you have completed the required pre-volunteer sessions please choose your volunteer time slot and register at the corresponding link here: 8:30 AM - 10:30 AM, 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM, 12:30 PM - 2:30 PM. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your shift time,
  • Leave the Join Code field blank and select “Next”. Construction under Affiliations is pre-selected - please proceed. Complete your profile and confirm you have finished the required safety training.
  • Click here to register for Shift A. Please report to the Home Side Ticket Booth of T.A. Wright Stadium at least 15 minutes prior to your shift. Refreshments will be served to registered volunteers, email addresses will be required to register (faculty, staff, and students are asked to use their SSU email addresses), registration is limited to 30 slots per a shift on a first come, first served basis. As you register, please acknowledge the Release and Waiver of Liability. You will receive a confirmation email from Elizabeth Heddleson via VolunteerHub!
  • Click here to register for Shift B. Please report to the Home Side Ticket Booth of T.A. Wright Stadium at least 15 minutes prior to your shift. Refreshments will be served to registered volunteers, email addresses will be required to register (faculty, staff, and students are asked to use their SSU email addresses), registration is limited to 30 slots per a shift on a first come, first served basis.   • Campus Canal Clean-Up

  • Project Manager: Joline Keevy Time: 8:30 AM – 3:00 PM Canals often carry debris downstream, and this project will focus on removing that debris to help preserve and maintain clean, clear waterways. Attire: Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes. All necessary supplies will be provided. Sign-Up: No sign-up is required.
  • Campus Garden Beautification

  • Project Manager: Joline Keevy Time: 8:30 AM – 3:00 PM Location: Campus Garden (Jasmine Avenue) Activities Include: Mulching Bedding Planting Watering Interested individuals may also adopt a garden plot. Attire: Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes. All necessary supplies will be provided. Sign-Up: No sign-up is required.
  • Shoe Drive

  • We will be collecting gently used shoes and flip flops to be donated to the Union Mission in support of local families in need. We are collecting shoes for men, women, and children. A friendly competition will be held among the following groups to see who can collect the most items: Faculty & Staff Campus Clubs & Organizations Greek Life (Fraternities & Sororities) Housing & Residence Life QR codes will be available for participants to scan for tracking purposes. Students who donate a pair of shoes will receive one hour of community service. Primary Collection Opportunity: All donations are requested to be brought to the Presidential Pep Rally Date: Thursday, April 16th Time: 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM Location: Felix Alexis Circle If you are unable to bring your donations at that time, alternate arrangements are available.
