    At Savannah State University, the investiture reflects the strength of our legacy as Georgia’s first public HBCU and the responsibility to steward that legacy forward.

    It serves as a moment of reflection and renewal – honoring where we have been while boldly setting direction for where we are going under new leadership.

    Wednesday, April 15th, 2026

    Join the Savannah State University community for a Presidential Pep Rally and Ice Cream Social as we officially kick off Investiture Week. This gathering offers an opportunity to connect, celebrate, and mark the beginning of this historic moment honoring Dr. Whirl and the future of SSU.

    Thursday, April 16th, 2026

    Campus-Wide Community Service Day (Morning)
    As part of Investiture Week, Savannah State University invites students, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends to take part in a campus-wide Community Service Day. Together, we will give back, strengthen our connections, and reflect the values of service and responsibility that define the SSU legacy.

    Melodies on the Marsh (5–7 PM)
    Close out the day with Melodies on the Marsh, an evening of music and community set against Savannah State University’s coastal landscape. Join us from 5–7 PM to gather, unwind, and celebrate the spirit of SSU as Investiture Week continues.
