Student organizations in the College of Media, Arts, and Communication (CMAC) do more than create community — they give students real-world practice that helps prepare them for employment after graduation.
Through collaboration with peers, leadership opportunities, creative projects, performances, productions, and campus involvement, students build the communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and professional skills employers value most. From film creation to performing arts groups, these organizations help students strengthen their resumes, expand their networks, gain hands-on experience, and turn their interests into career-ready practice.

WTRT- Tiger's Roar TV
The Tiger’s Roar TV, WTRT-TV, is the television studio of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communications. The Tiger’s Roar TV moved its operations to a newly built studio in 2016.
The studio is used for classroom instruction and for student-led projects in student organizations and other cross-curricular activities. An example of a student-led production is a sports show called Xtreme Sports. The new studio utilizes state-of-the-art virtual green-screen technology. Students use the larger two studios for most productions. The smaller studio is used primarily for class projects.

The Powerhouse of the South is the most visible of the SSU Bands, providing the color and excitement of Tiger Athletics and enrichment of university life. The band performs regularly at home and selected away football games, parades, battle of the bands, and accepts invitations to perform throughout the Southeast. The band schedule does not conflict with other academic classes.
