40 Under 40

Launched in 2024, Savannah State University’s Forty Under 40 honors alumni under 40 who exemplify Tiger excellence through leadership, impact, and service while uplifting their communities.

This distinguished recognition celebrates young alumni whose professional achievements and commitment to service reflect the power of their education to drive positive change locally and globally. By highlighting the achievements of these alumni, Savannah State University aims to inspire its current and future students to aspire to greatness and to emphasize the university’s role in shaping future leaders across various fields.

Nominations for the Second Cohort begins January 12, 2026.

 

Inaugural Class

The inaugural class represents a powerful cross-section of Tiger talent, with recipients working across municipalities, universities, federal agencies, and Fortune 500 companies. Among the honorees are company founders, executives, state representatives, doctors, lawyers, and other leaders who are making meaningful contributions in their fields and communities.

Potential Honorees

Each potential honoree must have graduated from SSU and seeks to uphold the university’s core values of belonging, collaboration, discovery, excellence and resilience. The selection committee is comprised of alumni and staff that evaluates nominees based on their professional accomplishments, leadership qualities, and impact on their communities.

Things to Know

Eligibility

  • Must possess a bachelor’s or master’s degree from Savannah State University
  • Must be 40 years or younger in age by December 31, 2026
  • Have a record of professional or philanthropic endeavors in one or more areas such as business, media, research, arts, leadership, community, government, education, engineering, philanthropy, or other areas
  • The nomination is submitted by a Savannah State University graduate
  • For an applicant to be considered for review, there must be a completed nominator and nominee form by March 8, 2026

Nominator Form

As a nominator, you must be a graduate of Savannah State University in order to nominate someone for this award.

Nominee Form

As a nominee, you must be nominated by a graduate of Savannah State University.

Requirements of Award Recipients

  • Must provide a professional headshot and biography
  • Must participate in video reflections and advertisement
  • Must be present at the ceremony to receive Award of Recognition
  • Must demonstrate a personal commitment to Savannah State University through financial support, volunteerism, fostering relationships, or other
  • Financial commitment to the university (all proceeds support scholarships)
