The Building and Grounds at Savannah State University are our campus treasures and the Physical Plant Administration has the ultimate responsibility of maintaining and protecting those facilities. We value the partnership with the students, faculty and staff to help maintain our campus buildings. The department of Physical Plant performs certain maintenance and repair functions according to a regular schedule or as determined through a special inspection. For other maintenance needs, Physical Plant must depend on requests of needs from the building occupants.
Essentially, our focus is the daily maintenance and operations of the Universities facilities, grounds and utilities systems. Our daily tasks include maintenance, repairs and alterations; mechanical and electrical systems, custodial services and associated activities. Plant is also responsible for major/minor capital projects, construction and engineering support. Our team is also accountable for the campus roadways and grounds.
Facilities Planning
Facilities Planning is responsible for design, renovation, repair, construction, and administration of all campus projects by contract. Small construction designs are produced in house, but major construction projects are contracted to architectural and engineering firms.

Building Maintenance
The maintenance division of Physical Plant is responsible for the daily maintenance of campus facilities and all systems. Requests for routine services for electrical, HVAC and plumbing should be forwarded to Physical Plant via the online work order program.

Key Requests
The Savannah State University key and locking systems are maintained by the Mechanical Maintenance division of Physical Plant; however, the card access control unit is a function of Auxiliary Services.

The Physical Plant team is responsible for event service setup, ensuring spaces are prepared with the necessary equipment and arrangements to support a wide range of campus events efficiently and professionally.
