Savannah State University (SSU), Georgia’s first public Historically Black College and University (HBCU), invites faculty, staff, alumni, and community partners to participate in a Strategic Planning Open Forum on Thursday, September 12, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the King-Frazier Ballroom on the SSU campus, 3219 College Street, Savannah, GA.

For 135 years, SSU has stood as a cornerstone of higher education with deep roots in the Savannah community. This forum is part of #TheUpRoar, a university-wide initiative to shape the vision and priorities that will guide SSU for years to come. It offers a unique opportunity for Tiger Nation—and the greater Savannah region—to come together, share perspectives, and contribute ideas that will inform the University’s next strategic plan.

“Our goal is to build a plan that truly reflects the hopes and aspirations of our students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community,” said SSU President Dr. Jermaine Whirl. “We invite everyone with a connection to Savannah State to join us, share their vision, and help chart a clear path forward.”

The Open Forum will be a collaborative session designed to capture the diverse voices and experiences that make SSU strong. The University affirms that the most effective strategic plans are built on community input, and your insights are essential to shaping a future that will propel Savannah State to new heights.
