Savannah State University, through its Continuing Education Program, is partnering with the National Society of Real Estate Appraisers (NSREA), the nation’s only African American real estate valuation organization, to host Career Pathways to Success 2026 on October 28–29, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Savannah State University.
The two-day event will introduce students, alumni and working professionals to career opportunities in real estate appraisal while expanding access to a profession in which African Americans have historically been underrepresented. The initiative reflects a shared commitment to workforce development, economic mobility and creating pathways to careers that play an important role in homeownership, business development and generational wealth creation.
Real estate appraisers help determine the value of residential and commercial properties, influencing mortgage lending, property taxation, investment decisions and community development. Despite the profession’s economic significance, opportunities remain to increase awareness of appraisal careers and strengthen pathways for aspiring professionals, particularly within underserved communities.
Through this partnership, Savannah State and NSREA aim to introduce participants to the appraisal profession, connect aspiring appraisers with industry experts and highlight pathways to professional credentials, entrepreneurship and career advancement.
The event will bring together real estate professionals, industry leaders and aspiring appraisers for conversations focused on career readiness, professional development and the importance of fair and equitable property valuation.
Beyond introducing participants to new professional opportunities, the collaboration underscores the broader economic impact of increasing representation in the appraisal industry. Expanding access to these careers can help strengthen the workforce, create new pathways to entrepreneurship and support greater participation in the real estate economy.
As Georgia’s first public historically Black university, Savannah State continues to strengthen partnerships that connect education with industry needs and create meaningful opportunities for students, alumni and the surrounding community.
