Meet the President
Dr. Jermaine Whirl, an Aspen Fellow, is a nationally recognized, award-winning leader in workforce development and higher education and proudly serves as the 15th president of Savannah State University.
Since taking the helm, he has ushered in a transformative era for SSU — launching the bold “Uproar 2030” strategic plan, establishing five new academic colleges, securing the university’s largest corporate gift, and introducing the first named college in institutional history.
His leadership reflects a clear commitment to innovation, student success, and positioning Savannah State for sustained growth and national impact — all while honoring the proud legacy of Tiger Nation.
