Savannah State University takes center stage at City Hall as we celebrate SSU Day — a special Homecoming tradition honoring our university’s historic legacy, community impact, and the generations of Tigers who continue to uplift the city we call home.
Homecoming Fountain Dyeing Ceremony
Homecoming Week starts with a splash of Tiger blue! Join the Savannah State community as we officially kick off Homecoming 2026 with the Homecoming Fountain Dyeing Ceremony!
Pep Rally
A night full of energy, music, and unforgettable performances! The Pep Rally brings special performances to Tiger Arena for a live experience you won’t want to miss.
State of the University Address
Join President Jermaine Whirl for the 2026 State of the University Address on Tuesday, October 13 at 11 a.m. in the Student Union Ballroom.
Come hear about the progress taking shape across campus, the priorities guiding our work and what’s next for Savannah State. This special address is an opportunity for our students, faculty, staff, alumni and Savannah community to come together and hear firsthand about the direction of the university.

Tigers Outside
CAB is turning campus into the ultimate Homecoming playground with Tigers Outside: CAB Day Out. Start with yoga, hit a BRICKS class, learn a new line dance or join the campus run — then let loose with a car smash, sidewalk chalk and Deck the Circle.
Come move, create, make some noise and bring the Homecoming energy. The S.H.O.W. starts right here on the Yard.
HBCU Wall Street Student Entrepreneur Market Place
HBCU Wall Street brings SSU’s student entrepreneurs together to showcase their businesses, connect with fellow Tigers and put their products and ideas in front of the campus community. Shop student-owned, make connections and see what the next generation of Tiger entrepreneurs is building.
Bon Fire Trail Ride
The Bonfire Trail Ride brings Tigers together for an evening of skating, trail riding and plenty of Homecoming energy around the bonfire. Grab your crew, lace up your skates and enjoy a night on the Yard as The S.H.O.W. keeps rolling.
NROTC Alumni Kickball Tournament
NROTC alumni are heading back to the field for a Homecoming Kickball Tournament, bringing Tigers together for some friendly competition, alumni connection and plenty of school spirit.
Bill Davis Memorial Golf Outing
Committed to student success and SSU scholarships. Established by a group of Savannah State College (SSC) alumni, the Homecoming Golf Outing began in 1971 as an opportunity for individuals to get together to support Savannah State College. Over the years, the event grew and the support for SSC increased, specifically aimed at scholarship assistance for current students. In 1984, the Savannah State Foundation accepted the charge of hosting the Homecoming Golf Outing, working to increase the revenue the event provided for student financial aid.
NROTC Alumni/MIDN Social
The NROTC Alumni/MIDN Social brings NROTC alumni and current midshipmen together for an opportunity to connect, share experiences and celebrate the bonds built at Savannah State.

The SSUNAA Coronation is a time-honored tradition at Savannah State University, celebrating the grace, leadership, and legacy of the SSU National Alumni Association. Held during Homecoming Week, this regal event honors the newly crowned King and Queen of the SSUNAA and their commitment to uplifting the Tiger family – past, present, and future.
Coronation of Mister and Miss SSU
The Savannah State University Coronation is a cherished tradition that celebrates the crowning of our newly elected Mister and Miss Savannah State University. Surrounded by elegance and pride, this royal affair honors student leadership, excellence, and the spirit of the Tiger Nation. With the entire campus community watching, our student leaders take the stage – ready to serve, uplift, and represent SSU with purpose and pride.
National Alumni Association Homecoming Memorial Service
Join the Savannah State University Alumni Association gathers to honor the lives and legacies of Tigers who have passed on. This meaningful service offers a moment of reflection, remembrance, and gratitude for those who helped shape the Savannah State story. Together, we celebrate their lasting impact and the Tiger spirit that continues to live on in us all.
Alumni Class Reunion Breakfast
This year marks the celebration for classes ending in 1’s and 6’s. This being the important milestone that it is, the Office of Alumni Relations welcomes alumni from all over the world back home to Savannah State to enjoy a breakfast where “Savannah meets the Sea.”
Yard Fest, Campus Parade, Alumni Fish Fry and Alumni Stroll-Off
Homecoming at SSU is all about tradition, pride, and community – and nothing brings that to life like Yard Fest, the Campus Parade, the Alumni Fish Fry, and the Alumni Stroll-Off. Greek Step Show
One of Homecoming’s most anticipated traditions returns as Greek organizations take the stage for the Greek Step Show. Expect precision, creativity, energy and plenty of Greek pride as each group brings its own style to The S.H.O.W.
Homecoming Parade
Catch the sights, sounds, and Tiger pride at the SSU Homecoming Parade! Saturday, October 17 at 9:30 AM in Downtown Savannah – Join us as we kick off Homecoming in true Tiger style, leading up to the big game against Fort Valley State University at 6 PM!
Tailgate Experience
Join us for the Homecoming Tailgate Experience as Savannah State prepares to take on Fort Valley State University in one of the most spirited events of the season! Featuring food, music, and Tiger pride across generations, the tailgate is a vibrant tradition where alumni, students, and fans come together to celebrate before kickoff. It’s the perfect way to connect, recharge, and get ready for game time.
President's Club Reception
The President’s Club Reception brings together members of the SSU community whose generosity helps move the university forward. During Homecoming, President’s Club members will gather for an evening of connection, celebration and Tiger pride.
SSU Tigers vs. Fort Valley State University Homecoming Game
Cheer on the Savannah State Tigers as they face off against Fort Valley State University in this year’s exciting Homecoming Game. Don’t miss the chance to be part of the energy that makes Homecoming at SSU so special. Please note that to access campus you must purchase a parking pass and to access the tailgating area you must purchase a game day ticket.
Greater Impact 25th Homecoming Ecumenical Service
The Greater Impact Campus Movement will celebrate 25 years at Savannah State during Homecoming with a special Homecoming Ecumenical Service on Sunday, Oct. 18. The service will bring together the SSU community to reflect on Greater Impact’s legacy and celebrate 25 years of faith, fellowship and connection on campus.
