Savannah State University (SSU) will transform its Student Union Ballroom into a showcase of high-level academic discovery during its 11th Annual Research Conference on Tuesday, April 7.

The annual conference shines a spotlight on student-led scientific inquiry. This year’s conference highlights the rigorous investigations of both undergraduate and graduate students, bridging the gap between classroom theory and real-world application. The conference serves as a critical academic exercise while fostering partnerships with K-12, higher education, and industry to advance regional scholarship and research collaborations.

Many of the projects on display are the result of external funding and high-level faculty mentorship, covering critical fields such as marine sciences, forensic sciences, and social work.

“This conference brings into focus for the entire community the high-caliber academic work and vital scientific research taking place right here on campus,” said Marcus S. Cox, SSU provost and vice president for Academic Affairs. “We applaud our students for their dedication to advancing knowledge as they forge paths that will lead them to successful and meaningful careers.”

Attendees will have the opportunity to engage directly with student researchers as they present findings on their topics. More than 170 have submitted proposals to present at the conference.
