Before You Apply

Prospective students must meet GPA and course prerequisites before applying to the Hyundai College of Education. Teacher candidates also need to submit a separate application for the Teacher Preparation Program, meeting GaPSC standards for certification.

Meet the Dean of the Hyundai College of Education

Dr. Cora Thompson leads the Hyundai College of Education with a deep commitment to shaping compassionate, confident, and highly skilled educators. Under her leadership, Savannah State University’s future teachers are equipped with innovative strategies, strong instructional skills, and the ability to integrate the Science of Reading into all content areas to help close the literacy gap. She champions strong community involvement, encouraging future educators to partner with families, schools, and local organizations to create supportive networks for student growth. Under her guidance, SSU’s teacher candidates are prepared not only with the skills and strategies to teach effectively, but also the heart and mindset to make a lasting impact in today’s classrooms and beyond.
