A Celebration of Hope, Home and Boundless Possibilities

Savannah, GA. October 1, 2026 – The Savannah State University Concert Choir and Theater Arts program proudly announces its upcoming Visual and Performing Arts showcase “Dreams In Motion: A Celebration of Hope, Home and Boundless Possibilities” at the Dr. Otis S. Johnson Cultural Arts Center in Savannah, Georgia Wednesday, November 18th at 7:00 pm. Featuring special performances from SSU’s elite performers, the community and beyond will be enthralled by the interwinging of song, dance, acting and poetry as this showcase weaves you in and out of mankind’s inspired dreams of hope for a better future, home for the heart and soul and the the endless possibilities of what could be. Headliners for the evening include the SSU Concert Choir in performance as they sing selections representing our nation’s most profound dreams inherited in African and American song genres including spirituals, classical, contemporary and popular music – each song reflecting the endless possibilities of Faith, Hope, Love and the pursuit of Happiness. Proven to be an audience favorite, SSU’s Player by the Sea will present to the audience select scenes from Lorraine Hansberry’s groundbreaking play A Raisin in the Sun , which explores the Younger family’s pursuit of the American Dream amid racial and economic inequality. Through their dreams of a brighter future, the play remains, more than seven decades after its debut, one of the most produced and studied plays in America. The evening will also feature SSU’s Visual and Performing Arts Program’s most talented dance, vocalists, and instrumental soloists as they perform selections all centered on the program’s theme. The grand finale of the showcase will feature a special performance by SSU’s very own Desmond Griffin, Jazz Saxophonist – what a great way to end the night! So, Save the Date. Bring a friend or two and come join us for a wonderful night of entertainment!
