Savannah State University’s Dining Services offers a variety of delicious options across three main locations: Tiger Dining Hall, King-Frazier Student Center’s Tiger Express Diner, and the Student Union Food Court. Nothing brings people together like food—and nothing makes us happier than bringing people together. From our fresh approach to every meal to our belief in warm, thoughtful service, that spirit is the first ingredient in everything we do.
Resident Meal Plans
All undergraduate resident students under the age of 25 at SSU are required to have a meal plan during Fall and Spring semesters. Resident students are not required to have a meal plan in the summer but may purchase a commuter one. NOTE: Meal Plans are nonrefundable, even if you withdraw from the University.

Do You Want to Change Your Resident Plan?
If you wish to change your currently assigned meal plan, you can do so by 3 p.m. on the Friday of the first week of classes. To initiate this process, please complete the Residential Meal Change Request Form, which will be sent to [email protected].
Keep in mind that meal plans are required for all residential undergraduate students unless you are aged 25 or older. If you need an exemption from the meal plan, it may be granted for employment, medical, or religious reasons. For an employment exemption, you’ll need to provide a work schedule, as well as your class schedule, that shows whether you can eat during the designated meal times. If your exemption is approved, you won’t have to adhere to the meal plan requirement.
Additionally, a medical exemption requires you to complete the Medical Exemption Form with details from your primary physician. For a religious exemption, the Religious Exemption Form must be filled out by your religious leaders. It’s essential to carefully review all related forms to ensure you provide the correct documentation. Please remember to submit everything by the first Friday of the semester by 3:00 PM, as any forms submitted after that deadline will not be processed. Don’t forget to read and sign the Off-Campus Employment, Medical and Religious Meal Plan Exemption Policy to acknowledge your understanding of the policies and procedures.

Commuter Meal Plans
A commuter meal plan is available for students who do not live on campus, but wish to take advantage of the plan savings and have the meal plan charged to their student account during the bookstore voucher period. The plan may also be purchased by residential graduate students and students 25 and older during the Spring and Fall semesters and by all resident students in the summer.

Faculty and Staff Meal Plans
Special meal plans have been created for faculty and staff. Faculty and staff meal plans for 2024-2025 are as follows:
These prices represent a saving over the casual rate paid at the door. Instructions for applying are on the online Faculty/Staff Meal Plan Application form. All faculty/staff meal plans may be purchased with cash, check, credit card, or payroll deduction. Meal plans are good from August 1 through July 31 when food service is available and are non-refundable. If meal plans are paid for by payroll deduction, any remaining payments will be deducted from the last check if an employee leaves. Employees taking classes at the University are considered employees for this purpose.
