High School GPA & Required High School Curriculum
- 3.0 (Test Optional), Freshman Class Average (3.13)
- Your High School GPA is calculated by the Office of Admissions using the 17 Required High School Curriculum courses listed at the bottom of this page. Additional information can be found at Staying on Course. SAT & ACT Test Scores
SSU accepts both the SAT and ACT test.
| SAT | ACT |
|---|---|
| Evidence-based reading and writing score: 480+ Math test score: 440+Note: We will “super-score” your highest test scores. | English or reading: 17+ Math: 17+ Note: We will “super-score” your highest test scores. |
SAT Code: 5609 / ACT code: 0858
If you submit scores and then take the test again, you may submit the new scores for us to review. We will reassess your file and make a new decision based on the updated scores. Writing scores are not required for the ACT or SAT. We “super-score” ACT or SAT exams; we consider the highest score from a single test.
In addition to completing the above RHSC requirements an applicant must meet the following requirements, for full admissions (regular); satisfy the minimum test requirements of a 480 SAT I EBRW score (ACT 17) and a 440 SAT I math score (ACT 17) and earn a Freshmen Index (FI) of at least 1940. The FI is calculated by multiplying the academic grade point average (college prep courses only) by 500 plus 1.06 multiplied by the combined SAT I math and EBRW scores minus 74. For ACT, the FI is calculated by multiplying the college prep courses grade point average by 500, and adding the ACT scores which includes the verbal, math, and composite +88.

Savannah State University accepts mailed, faxed, emailed, or e-transcripts that come directly from the high school.
