College of Education

Scholarships

Our education programs in Georgia are designed to empower students from diverse backgrounds, providing opportunities for academic success and career development.

Among these initiatives are the TRIO Programs, which include TRIO Upward Bound, focused on preparing high school students for college; Educational Talent Search, which identifies and supports individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds; and GEAR UP, dedicated to increasing the number of students ready to succeed in postsecondary education. Additionally, we offer the Robert Noyce Teacher Scholarship to encourage talented STEM students to pursue teaching, and Student Support Services, providing resources and support to enhance student retention and graduation rates.

TRiO programs at Savannah State University include three programs: Educational Talent Search, Student Support Services and Upward Bound. These programs are designed to primarily serve low-income individuals, first-generation college students and individuals with disabilities from middle school through their post-secondary programs with academic support, guidance and opportunities to participate in educational and enrichment activities.

GEAR UP and Gear Up Georgia Programs at Savannah State University include two programs that work in collaboration with the Savannah-Chatham Country Public School System (SCCPSS). GEAR UP are discretionary grant programs designed to increase the number of low-income students who are prepared to enter and succeed in post-secondary education. GEAR UP provides six-year grants to states and partnerships to provide services at high-poverty middle and high schools. GEAR UP serves a cohort of students beginning no later than the seventh grade and follows the cohort through high school and into their first year of post-secondary education.
