Homeland Security & Emergency Management
The Savannah State University (SSU) Homeland Security and Emergency Management (HSEM) program is the first in the nation at a historically Black college or university (HBCU) and the first bachelor’s degree program in homeland security and/or emergency management in the state of Georgia and the only program in the region.

The Savannah State University (SSU) Homeland Security and Emergency Management (HSEM) program is the first in the nation at a historically Black college or university (HBCU) and the first bachelor’s degree program in homeland security and/or emergency management in the state of Georgia and the only program in the region.
The HSEM program is built on the existing body of knowledge in homeland security and emergency management as well as current and developing research, with an emphasis on improving the resilience of communities and the infrastructure on which they depend.
