Disability Parking and Transportation
Disability parking is available in the designated blue handicap parking places for cars that display a government issued handicap parking placard (cardboard that hangs from rearview mirror) or tag. Appropriate campus parking decals must also be on vehicles. Vehicles that do not display the appropriate disability placard or tag and are parked illegally in marked disability spaces will be booted and/or towed at owner's expense.
Disability placard applications may be obtained at the SSU Disability Resource Center or at all Georgia Drivers' Services Offices. The SSU Disability Resource Center does not issue the disability placard, only the application. The application must be completed by your physician and returned to the Georgia Drivers' Services Office. You may also apply for a disability tag at your county tag office.
The campus is served by Chatham Area Transit (CAT) bus system. CAT has wheelchair accessible busses. They also provide CAT Teleride; a reservation based door to door service for registered people with disabilities. Their website is catchacat.org
Currently, CAT provides all students a shuttle which navigates a set path through campus and is available during the fall and spring semesters. Contact Auxiliary Services for up to date schedules and stops. SSU does not provide individual disability transport.
