VITAL IN CLASSROOMS
Through the development of the Virtual Reality lab space, our STEM Imaging Exploration Center has increased the number of students per teaching session to experience VR using different VR sets. The STEM Imaging Exploration Center has the capacity to accommodate up to 20 students at a time for VR teaching sessions. This development has made it much easier for current VITAL classes to visit the VR and will allow future classes to visit with ease as well.
Spring 2024 VR Classes

Students in Dr. Zhang's BIO 3101 General Botany class were able to experience virtually, step-by-step, the process of how the rapeseed plant is used to produce canola.
Picture from Dr. Hongo's BIO 3301-01 class in VR lab
Dr. Hongo's BIO 3301-01 Genetics class used VR applications to help students understand the different phases of mitosis. Students were able to explore both plant and animal cells. Once finished with the VR application, students were given an assignment based on their experience in VR
Spring 2023 VR Classes
Picture from Dr. Nitta's BIO 3321 class in VR lab
Dr. Nitta's BIO 3321 spring 2023 class used a VR application to explore the human body and cells. Students were able to learn more about how cells in the human body function. We hope to see Dr. Nitta again in the VR lab for Fall 2023 semester using more VR applications.

Mrs. Thapliyal's CHEM 1211L spring 2023 class used VR applications to teach students how elements from the periodic table are formed and their electron configurations.
Fall 2022 VR Classes
Pictures from Dr. Shakespeare's BIO 1107L-04 class in VR lab
Dr. Shakespeare's BIO 1107L class used VR applications to teach students human anatomy concepts. Students were completed assignments based on their VR experiences.
Pictures from Dr. Hongo's BIO 1107L-04 class in VR lab
Dr. Hongo's BIO 1107L-04 class used VR applications to teach students the basic structures of cells while learning about the different phases during mitosis. After students finished exploring the structure of different cells, they were given an assignment based on their experience in VR
Pictures from Dr. Prasad's CHEM 4531 class in VR lab
Dr. Prasad’s CHEM 4531 class had multiple VR teaching sessions during Oct and Nov 2022. During those sessions, students had an amazing experience learning with 3D chemical structures.
Pictures from Mrs. Thapliyal's CHEM 1211L class in VR lab
Mrs. Thapliyal’s CHEM 1211L class used VR applications to teach students about the composition of atoms and their electron configurations by assemblingg all elements of the periodic table. During these class sessions, students enjoyed the Immersive environment to learn complex chemistry topics.
Spring 2022 VR Classes
Dr. Shakespeare’s BIOL 1107L class used VR applications to teach students human anatomy concepts. Students were given assignments based on their VR learning's, which showed significant improvement in students learning. BIOL 1107L class will be again coming during the spring 2022 semester, where they will be using additional VR technologies.
