Department of Teacher Education
The Department of Teacher Education offers a Bachelor of Science in Education (BSED) in Middle Grades English/Language Arts and Social Studies (grades 4-8), and Middle Grades Math and Sciences (grades 4-8), secondary education programs (grades 6-12) in Biology Education and Mathematics Education, and a BSED in Engineering, Technology Education (grades P-12). Teacher preparation programs leading to state certification are approved by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC). Students who wish to become teacher candidates must meet GaPSC requirements throughout the program, which includes a separate application process for admission to the Teacher Preparation Program. Students who are in the BS programs in Mathematics or Biology who are in good standing can apply to the Noyce Teacher Scholarship Program to add on teacher certification while earning their bachelor’s degree. Students with qualifying GPAs may apply for a $10,000 Noyce Scholarship. (Select the Noyce Teacher Scholarship tab on the navigational panel for more information).
Graduate students or STEM professionals with a BS degree in Biology, Mathematics, or Engineering can apply to the Post-baccalaureate Non-degree Teacher Certification Program. Accepted students may be eligible to apply to the Noyce Teacher Scholarship Program as post-baccalaureate students.
