SSU Indie Fest
The Savannah State University Indie Film Fest was initiated in spring 2014 by JMC’s faculty and staff to showcase short films made by SSU students. The main purpose of the showcase is to provide a venue for students to share their passion for short films and to experiment with various kinds of film and video technology. It encourages friendly competition among students and creates an outlet for young visual artists to learn new theories and techniques. The film fest has become a successful project that complements the department’s curriculum.
The festival continues to grow from its original goal of being a tool for exploration and education for students. Now it is reaching more members of the local Savannah film community and it is becoming a service and professional activity that provides education for others.
