Freshman Student-Athletes
The Center for Academic Success is dedicated to providing academic support for freshman student-athletes. Academic advisors who specialize in the rules and regulations of NCAA Division I and Savannah State University assist student-athletes. Student-athletes are required to meet with their academic advisor twice each semester for course scheduling, major declaration and to review academic progress.
Study Hall
The purpose of Study Hall is to assist students in developing consistent study habits by providing a structured learning environment for students to work independently on class assignments. Study Hall is aimed at enabling students to become academically successful at Savannah State University.
Study Hall Rules
- The time a student spends in Study Hall must be towards his/her individual academic course work.
- No eating or drinking is allowed during Study Hall.
- Students must sign in to receive credit for Study Hall.
- Students are responsible for bringing all the necessary materials needed for course assignments.
Undeclared Majors
UC/CAS provides advisement to all undergraduate students who have not declared a major. In addition to course planning and scheduling, advisors assist these students in exploring different majors, identifying their career goals and with transitioning into full degree programs in the academic colleges. The advisors provide students with tools that help them to define their major and get a general idea regarding the graduate school and career options available in their chosen area of study.
In order to serve students better, Academic Advisement offers walk-in appointments, Monday through Friday during regular office hours. Students may also schedule an appointment with an advisor by contacting Academic Advisement at (912) 358-4491.
